Fuzzing Reports
Fuzzing is where filaments slippage has occurred, but filaments are still
attached to the carpet. It is caused by improper latex penetration into the yarn and can
be considered a defect. Latex penetration is a percentage that can be obtained through an
independent laboratory or sometimes through a field examination with a microscope.
However, there is no official group that has set a standard on what the percentage should
be.
Fuzzing is related to shedding where filaments completely release from the yarn. Shedding on a staple yarn is not considered a defect if it
goes away in six months.
