LENGTHWISE LINES

  • Lengthwise Lines Can Be Caused From

    Manufacturer’s defects from

  1. Dye -
  2. Defective yarn
  • from size - Sometimes a foreign yarn  gets tufted into the wrong carpet. It may be of a different color, fiber type, or size.
  • low lines - Sometimes a needle gets bent during the tufting process and creates a low line. lowline.jpg (65669 bytes)

A low line in a cut pile tufted carpet can occur when yarns are pulled down too low to be sheared. Note the looped yarn in the picture below.
