Matting & Crushing Reports
Matting is from filaments entangling with one another on a cut pile Saxony or
Frieze. It happen after these yarns loss their twist. Lost of twist can occur from
improper heat setting or from improper cushion, or sometimes from excessive usage,
abrasion, or maintenance.
Crushing is the lack of resiliency and will happen with matting. However, crushing can
happen without matting and can be indicative of yarn. Olefin is the least resilient of all
yarns and will not regain its nap after cleaning. Polyester is the second least resilient,
but some improvement can be made from cleaning. Wool is the most resilient of all yarns.
The reports in the menu above are purely Matting and/or Crushing; the ones below could
fall into another category too.
