Pooling Reports
After a plush cut pile carpet has been put into service, the pile direction may begin
to change creating an appearance similar to pools of water, or rings of dirt. This is
called 'Pooling' and it is a permanent change in the pile directions of which there are no
lasting corrections. If this carpet had been installed in another house, it would likely
not have pooled. If this carpet were replaced with similar dense plush pile carpet from a
different manufacturer, it too would likely pool. If this carpet were uninstalled and
installed somewhere else, the pooling would likely disappear. Furthermore, the
construction of the carpet, the type of yarn that is used, its color, the method of
installation, and the usage and maintenance are also not considered factors in causing
pooling.
The real issue for Pooling is whether there has been disclosure. The reports in the menu
above are purely Pooling; the ones below could fall into another category too.
Pile reversal due to Tracking This
report was done for the dealer and quotes the Song-Beverly Implied Warranty Act, that says
"a product sold without an expressed warranty is expected or implied that it will
perform to a reasonable standard." The difficulty was in determining what is
considered reasonable and that is beyond the scope of this inspection report. The
conclusion was "Pile reversal in the carpet in question was due to
"Shading" or "Tracking" and is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Considerations beyond this are beyond the scope of this report."
Pooling Report for Dealer This report
